Tam Churi

Starting this spring, we are excited to announce that we will be carrying the creations of 'tam tree', an artist residing in Ikaho Town, at our direct-managed store in Ikaho.

Her works are filled with meticulous sewing, reliable techniques, and unique ideas.
They are perfect for gifts, easy for everyday use, and their distinctiveness is also a charm.

The linen aprons also show a great attention to detail, with their softly lovely silhouette, and I use them daily myself.

In our store's sale and outlet corner, you'll find some slightly imperfect tam tree items. (They're quite rare!)

And starting this spring, tam tree will be helping us with store operations.
She's already actively contributing as a sock plush artist!

Creating employment has also been a long-held dream of mine, and I am very happy about it.

From April, we've been able to increase our business days, which was a long-cherished wish, and she is a very strong presence. (Yay!)

With her wealth of ideas and reliable skills, the quality of our workshops has significantly improved!

She will also be active as a sock plush artist for our company! (The moment she makes them, they're incredibly popular.)

What are sock plushies, or sock toys?

■ Origin: 19th Century ~ (America)

The most representative beginning of sock toys is the "sock monkey," which originated in America.
It is believed to have started by reusing old socks.

In particular, designs using Rockford Red Heel Socks with red heels became famous, and
they were handmade in many homes in the early 1900s.

■ Great Depression Era (1930s)

Due to material shortages caused by the Great Depression, a culture of "making do with what you have" spread.

The culture of making plush toys from old socks quickly took root.

During this period, sock toys spread as
・children's toys
・household handicrafts
.

■ Commercialization and Cultural Establishment (Mid-20th Century)

Patterns for sock monkeys were sold,
making them widely known not just in homes.

■ Present Day (Handmade & Sustainable)

Today, sock toys are loved worldwide as

・handmade crafts
・artworks
・upcycled items

.

Especially in recent years, they have gained renewed attention due to their compatibility with
・sustainable manufacturing
・the value of one-of-a-kind items

.

(Sold out plushies)

Thanks to tam tree, we can now consistently offer enough sock plushies for sale, which we previously lacked, in a positive way.

These are truly one-of-a-kind, heartwarming plushies.

It's a sustainable initiative that allows us to utilize flawed socks that would otherwise be discarded in factories and warehouses, and we hope to expand this even further in the future.

We will gradually increase the number so that our business partners can also stock them. Thank you for your continued support.

We look forward to welcoming you with "Tam Tam" from Tamura Sock Store and tam tree.
We would be delighted if you could see them in person at the store. Thank you for your support.
