Sock Plushie Business
I've officially launched sock plushies as a full-fledged business.
With the help of my supportive staff.
It all started when I casually wondered, "These B-grade socks, they still have a purpose, don't they?" five years ago.
It took about five years of planning. Finally, I'm able to get started.
Slight flaws, color variations, irregular sizes. Even A-grade items that have been in long-term inventory.
But are they really "no good"?
My father told me to throw them away, but then just left them in the warehouse.
Rather, isn't there a cuteness to these "leftovers"?
That's how Hajikko Neko was born.

(↑All the plushies in the photo, including those for clients, have found new homes.)
Here's one of my rules.
They must always be made from B-grade items.
If I start using A-grade items... well, that's a defeat. (Laughs)
It's not about making things that are perfectly neat,
but rather embracing slight misalignments or unexpected patterns,
and enjoying those coincidences when making Hajikko Neko.
And one more important thing.
Make them with a smile.
As I mindlessly move my hands,
the face of each one gradually emerges. (I'm also amazed by Tamchuri-san's sensibilities.)
"This one looks a bit sleepy."
"This one looks energetic."
Even if they have the same shape, their faces are never the same.
My annual goal is to make500 piecesto start.
However,
I won't make any two identical.
I want to cherish each encounter.
And from now on,
I hope to continue Hajikko Neko in two forms: workshops and plushies for sale.
Both the time spent creating and the time spent taking them home,
are precious.
May this small activity continue effortlessly, enjoyably,
and for a long time.
What kind of little one will be born depends on the day.
That's also one of the joys.🌿
